We helped Dad around his home in so many ways. As we looked around at other care giving agencies, no one seemed to provide all the care he needed, especially when we looked at everything that has to happen to keep a well functioning home in order. This is where At Home Elder Care can make the difference! Our services are listed below, but if you don't see something you are looking for, contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate you!

Care can be requested for as little as one hour or up to 24 hours a day if necessary. We ask that you notify us 24 hours in advance of any changes to scheduled care or 48 hours in advance for new care situations.

A clean home can improve your health and lift your spirits, as well as help maintain a safe environment. We believe your home is more than the building you live in, and can assist you in many ways:

Mobility and Activity Assistance
Whether you just need a little extra help getting up the stairs, or need more specialized care getting from your bed to a wheel chair, our care is there when you need it. We assist with:

Respite Care
Sometimes a family member needs a break or must attend to other essential responsibilities; we can be there to help with only 24 hour's notice in most cases. We also think that a good line of communication is essential to everyone's peace of mind. We provide:

Transportation
Dad drove everywhere into his 80s, but eventually driving was no longer possible. You'll have a need or desire to get around and our licensed and insured care givers will gladly bring you to:

Fee Schedule
Fees for services provided by At Home Elder Care, Inc. will vary based upon the specific services needed. In general, our fees range from $16.50 to $25.00 per hour. If additional services beyond our scope are requested, the fees will be based upon that provider's going rate. An in home assessment is needed to provide a more exact rate; call our office for details.

Definitions of Services

Advocacy & Case Management
We can help schedule and take you to appointments or follow-ups with your medical professionals. Sometimes it is difficult to hear everything said at appointments. Perhaps you need assistance with hospital admission and discharge, or coordinating household needs while you are away. You may relax a little knowing we'll serve as your second set of ears or become central point of contact to communicate with all persons involved with your care and comfort.

Ambulatory Assistance
Getting up the stairs, from your bed to a wheel chair or your favorite chair can require additional assistance that our qualified care givers can provide. Perhaps though, you want to take a walk around the block or a stroll through the mall. Fresh air and exercise can have many benefits, and we'll be happy to accommodate you and your doctor's orders.

Appointments
Going to the beauty salon or barbershop, getting your car serviced, or seeing your dentist or doctor all require appointments. Even if you simply want to meet a friend for lunch, we can help you keep track of your appointments and arrange or provide transportation for you to meet your commitments. Staying active is important to your physical and mental health and we can help you maintain your lifestyle.

Assist With Motion Exercises
Your recovery or long term health may require you to do exercises or follow instructions from a medical professional. We can assist you with reminders and other recommendations made by your healthcare professional.

Automotive Needs
We can assist you in getting an oil change, getting an emissions test if required, or taking your car to a mechanic of your choice for more detailed service.

Balancing Accounts & Paying Bills
Balancing a checkbook can be a challenge for anyone. Regina has over 28 years of accounting experience and can assist you in keeping your records accurate and up to date. Regina Deich Accounting & Payroll has been a member of the Better Business Bureau since July 1993.

Bathing & Grooming Assistance
We'll assist with bathing, showering, shampoo, shaving, combing or brushing your hair, etc. This is another very personal area and we strive at all times to ensure you have as much privacy and independence as prudently possible. In home haircuts are also available.

Bed Linens
A clean bed encourages better sleep! We can help make and change your bed, clean the linens (See Laundry) and turn the mattress.

Budgeting
Properly managing your financial resources is important, and it begins with a good understanding of your income and expenses. We can help you set a good budget to keep track of your money more efficiently.

Daily Conversation
It is important to discuss current events or reminisce about history. Loneliness can often be cured with someone to talk to on a daily basis.

Day or Overnight Assistance
If a family member is your primary care giver, they may need a temporary break to attend to other matters or just to relax. With 24 hour's notice, we can provide the extra time your care giver needs to balance all their obligations, for a half day or even overnight.

Dressing
We can help with selecting your clothes, buttoning buttons, putting on socks or tying shoes, getting into a jacket, etc. We can recommend weather appropriate choices and help you look your best!

Elimination Needs
These are normal and important bodily functions, but people often don't wish to discuss them due to their private nature. Your respect and privacy are very important to us, and we'll assist you by providing as much independence as possible in a safe and comforting environment.

Emergency Response
Clearly, the best thing to do in a police, fire or medical emergency is to call 911. But what do you do when the toilet line breaks at two in the morning, or a storm knocks out a window or blocks access to your driveway? At Home Elder Care will do our best to respond promptly to such situations, controlling the situation then acquiring any professional assistance needed to resolve the issue.

Entertainment & Companionship
We like to have fun too, and would be happy to enjoy a card or board game with you, as well as join you on any special outings. Reading, conversation, or sometimes just a friendly ear to listen can do wonders for person's mental and physical well being. (See Outings)

Event Reminders
If you need assistance keeping track of anniversaries, birthdays or other special events, we can help. We also help with sending cards and gift shopping.

Gardening & Indoor Plant Care
Bright flowers and thriving plants can lift one's spirits. We can help you plant a small garden or care for your indoor plants.

Guidance & Legal Assistance
We have experience with, and access to, expert legal advice for matters such as living wills, Medical Powers of Attorney, Powers of Attorney, Do Not Resuscitate order preparation, etc. We can also help you select details regarding your final arrangements.

Help with Walkers, Wheelchairs, etc.
Many devices are available to help you remain active and we can assist you in the proper use and maintenance of your equipment.

Home Safety Evaluation
We can evaluate your home for a wide range of hazards and recommend remediation steps to ensure you have a safe environment in which to live.

In Home Needs Assessment
We'll make a complimentary in-home visit to meet with you person-to-person and assess your care needs. We'll make recommendations based on your wants and needs, and refer you to appropriate professionals if you require assistance beyond the scope we provide.

Laundry
This includes washing, drying, ironing, and putting away clothing, bed or table linen. Laundry service may be provided at your home or at a commercial laundromat of your choice.

Light Housekeeping
This includes doing the dishes, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, straightening up.

Manicure & Pedicure
Clipping, shaping, and cleaning nails is very important to avoid blisters and infections. This can become a difficult task due to bending or immobility of fingers.

Meal Preparation & Cleanup
If you only need an extra hand in the kitchen, or would like someone to prepare a daily hot, delicious, and nutritious meal, you can count on our skilled care givers to provide the meal time assistance you need. If you prefer not to eat alone, we can join you for the delicious meal.

Medicare Prescription Comprehension
Understanding the new laws in effect for Medicare prescription coverage can be mind boggling. Some health care companies will take advantage of you in order to receive your enrollment. Let us sort through your situation and recommend the best choice, knowing we have no financial interest in specific health plans.

Medication Set-up & Reminders
Following your doctor's orders regarding your medication is essential if you wish to recover and remain healthy. While we do not administer medication, if you have a lot of prescriptions, getting them organized, as well as remembering to take them can be a challenge. Our care givers can help you do both to comply with your doctor's instructions.

Menu Planning
At Home Elder Care Inc., can help plan a delicious, nutritious, and budget conscious menu for you, even doing your shopping if you'd like. Eating well-balanced meals are essential for good health and we can customize a menu to meet your needs. If meal times are lonely for you, we will even eat with you to make this important task more enjoyable.

Minor Interior & Exterior Upkeep
We can help you tackle those small jobs in and around the house that might be just beyond your reach. Loose door-knobs, broken latches, leaky faucets and many other items not working like they should are within the scope of our service. If a professional is needed we'll direct you to someone you can trust.

Monthly Quality Checks
The quality of your care is of the utmost importance to us. Management will check in with you regularly by phone and in person to ensure all of your expectations are being met.

Oral Hygiene
Proper mouth, teeth, gum and denture care is essential to good oral health. Brushing, flossing, denture cleaning, and scheduling regular visits to your dentist are a few of the services we offer.

Organize Mail
Incoming mail should be brought in the house daily and sorted. For safety reasons and prevention of identity theft, outgoing mail should be taken to a locked mail box. Our caretakers will pick up your mail or drop mail off in a post office box to help you stay organized and safe.

Outings
Maybe you want to see a play, a movie, a sporting event or even take a trip up to Cripple Creek. We have a wide variety of interests and would love to accompany you!

Oxygen Use
We can monitor and record your oxygen use, help rotate tanks and tubes, as well as help with end-user maintenance on your equipment.

Pet Care
Your pet is an important family member but often changing the litter box or picking up doggie piles is too difficult. We can feed, wash and care for your pet's needs in order for you to live peacefully together.

Pick-Up Prescriptions or Call In Refills
It is very important that you have your prescriptions on hand as prescribed by your doctor. We will pick-up or your medications or call your pharmacy for refills.

Property Maintenance
There are a lot of small jobs you used to do around the home, things you now can't quite get to. We can help with storm windows, caulking, raking, gardening, fence repair, and many other odd jobs. We'd be happy to help you find a professional you can trust for larger or more complex jobs.

Regular Family Communication
Keeping your loved ones informed of your care and well-being is important, and we'll communicate with whomever you wish on a regular basis.

Safety Assistance
Keeping the sidewalk clear, or changing the batteries in your smoke alarms can be a little challenging. Other services can include slip and fall prevention, outdoor lighting, or door and window locks.

Shopping
Whether its routine grocery shopping or finding just the right gift for someone special, we'll gladly accompany or assist you according to your schedule and wishes.

Take & Record Vitals
We can assist with recording weight, temperature, pulse and blood pressure, and provide that data to your health care professional upon request.

Weekly Correspondence
Even if you need limited care from us, we want you to know that well be there if you need us. We care about your well being and can follow-up with you weekly if you desire!

Wellness Calls
Even if you do not need a daily visit from one of our care givers, we can provide you or your family peace of mind knowing that if you need something, someone will be checking in with you.

Written Basic Care Plan
Based on your individual needs, we'll provide you with a plan for your care that you can rely upon us to fulfill should we begin providing care for you on a regular basis. This plan can also be a useful tool for family members that may be helping out.
